About Us

We’re passionate about providing opportunities for young people, our community and London. Grass-root charities and organisations hold the key to improving and transforming the lives of individuals who may not have access to opportunities other have. By supporting young people and providing a space for them to grow, learn and flourish, we strengthen and nurture the community around us.
About Us

Who We Are

Newark Youth London is a registered charity working in London Borough of Tower Hamlets since 1984.  The organisation was formed by a group of young people who had no access to recreational facilities and formed themselves into a football team calling themselves Newark F.C.  Over the years the organisation has developed organically into a leading youth and community organisation serving the young people and adults of Tower Hamlets and East London.

Newark is managed by a board of trustees elected every year at the AGM.  The trustees have a range of expertise and experiences to successfully manage the organisation.  They work in central government, finance, legal, medical, private and community sector. Majority are past and current users of the service, and have lived experiences and therefore understand the needs of the community.  The board meets monthly and together they make strategic decisions for the charity.

Newark has a Manager overseeing all aspects of the organisation and manages all staff members.  We have a dedicated team of full time, part time and sessional project officers, youth workers and sports coaches delivering our services.  The vast majority of Newark’s football activities are delivered by volunteers and the management committee members.  We provide training and support to staff and volunteers for continuous development and improvement in their skills.

Newark Youth London is committed to equality of opportunity and our services are open to all young people and adults in Tower Hamlets.  We do our best to ensure everyone who wishes to be part of Newark either as staff member, volunteer, service user, MC member or supporter is able to do so without discrimination or prejudice.  We support users to achieve and grow and help them to access our services by removing any known and perceived barriers to engaging.
