Charitable Objectives

To act as a resource for young people and families living in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and neighbouring boroughs by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities as a means of:

Newark is constituted as a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 5351514) and registered as a charity with the Charity Commission (Charity No. 1112289).

Advancing education for young people and wider society.

Relieving unemployment through training, support and skills development.

Providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for people living in the area of benefit who have a need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances with a view to improving their conditions of life.

Newark is governed by a Board of Trustees (who are also company directors). The trustees are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting following nomination by two or more members. The trustees agree on the roles and responsibilities of each trustee.

Our Board of Trustees regularly monitor and review the success of the organisation in meeting its key objectives and consider improvements to governance and performance accordingly.
