I had never been involved with any youth club or any youth provision before coming to Newark.
Since joining, she has become a key leader in bringing the ‘Girls in Action’ social action project to life; she promoted the project to her friends, neighbours and in her school. She lead on the first event and delivered it successfully.
She also wrote to the Mayor, Youth Mayor, Councillors and Youth Service Head to support the project and met them at the launch of the Tower Hamlets Youth Service event. I also helped to set up the Local Giving page to fundraise online.
She completed the leadership course with the other 18 girls. She was the glue in keeping everyone motivated and together.
Following on from this, I then won the Jack Petchey Achievement award and was recognised at our awards ceremony.
I has now been inspired to start her own business and has started to develop a website and business cards, as well as planning corporate branding. This is a direct result of her gaining leadership skills and confidence through the project.
